SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A Delta Airlines flight to Salt Lake City made an emergency landing in Los Angeles Wednesday morning.

Delta Flight 357 with scheduled service between Honolulu and Salt Lake City departed on Tuesday but was diverted to Los Angeles International airport on Wednesday.

According to the airline, one of the two airplane engines required shutdown as the aircraft approached the West Coast. The flight crew declared an emergency for priority handling with Air Traffic Control.

Delta shared that the aircraft was inspected after the landing.

There were 212 customers, two pilots, and six flight attendants on board the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. Customers were reaccommodated on new flights.

Delta shared this statement with ABC4:

“Safety comes before all else – that’s why the Delta flight crew followed extensive training and procedures to divert to Los Angeles resulting in a safe landing. We apologize to our customers for the experience and the delay in their travel.”
