FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — One of the Valley’s top stars came home Wednesday night for a special celebration.
Jalen Green is the all-time points leader at San Joaquin Memorial High School.
Green helped SJM win two Central Section championships.
He went on to be the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft and now plays for the Phoenix Suns.
He returned to SJM to see his number four jersey retired.
Congressman Jim Costa’s office also presented a proclamation.
A number of Green’s new Suns teammates, including the team’s general manager, head coach and CEO made the trip out.
“It’s always good coming back,” he said. “This is where I grew up and spent a lot of my years. This is where I got the hustle, motivation and drive, the hunger all built up to where I’m at today, so I got to show love back.”
Green has been all love to the Valley, donating basketball courts, shoes and time to teams and organizations.
