Southern Californians? Talk about a famously on-the-move bunch, and with good reason.

We have to find creative, invigorating, and affordable ways to move hither and yon around our massive and diverse region, daily. These complex journeys often involve bikes, skates, or that Los Angeles icon, the automobile (and sometimes two or more in a single day, depending on your needs and where you have to be).

To honor our city’s enduring go-go-go character, and to celebrate our love of bikes and everything beyond, the Natural History Museum is honoring LA on Wheels Day Nov. 22.

You’ll need to wheel on over to the Exposition Park institution for a plethora of invigorating activities, presentations, and car displays; bikes, too, will be at the fascinating forefront.

Of course, you might ride the rails, as the Metro E Line has a stop that is just a short hop, jump, and scoot from the museum.

Once you’ve parked your wheels, head inside and/or outside for a car display, skate demos, and an appearance by the charming historian Charles Phoenix, who will look back at SoCal in the 1950s and ’60s (and, of course, our love of boat-big cars).

Mr. Phoenix’s slide show will require a separate ticket, do keep in mind.

Discussions focused on mobility justice, and stories centered on wheels and going places, will also be on the schedule.

The short documentary “Biking While Black” will screen, and a conversation about skate culture will look at the “cultural impact” of skating in Los Angeles and beyond.

And find a host of local vendors, and community booths, dotting the pathways of the Nature Garden.

Wheel on over to this page for the full schedule; most of the happenings will be included with your museum admission, which you can buy in advance.
