BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A new report titled “Moving California Forward: The Economic Power of the CSU” reveals that Cal State Bakersfield (CSUB) has made a significant economic impact in the San Joaquin Valley, generating nearly $500 million in industry activity.
The report highlights that CSUB has contributed to filling more than 5,000 jobs, earning nearly $200 million in wages, and generating over $40 million in state and local tax revenue.
CSUB president Vernon B. Harper Jr. stated, “For every dollar invested in CSU Bakersfield, we produce $16 of activity. When you add in the spending of our alumni, that becomes $60. So every dollar that goes into CSU Bakersfield has an enormous impact on this community.”

CSUB alumni have further contributed by generating $1.7 billion in industry activity and 8,100 jobs across California.
Harper emphasized the importance of partnerships, saying, “It’s really about our partnerships. And so our partnerships extend to every sector, business and non-profit sectors in this community.”
