LOGAN, Utah – The Utah State football program is going dark mode on Saturday night, donning black jerseys and pants when the team takes the field against Fresno State.

Utah State (5-5, 3-3 MW) faces the Fresno State Bulldogs (7-3, 4-2 MW) on Saturday, November 22. Kickoff is at 8:30 p.m. MT.

The new threads’ all-black pants include a white stripe down the outside of each leg. The jerseys are all black with a single white stripe on each shoulder and an all-white number trimmed in USU navy blue.

Aggies need one win in the final two games to become bowl-eligible

Last weekend’s double-OT loss at UNLV may have been the program’s last, best chance at a bowl game this season.

USU’s final two opponents, Fresno State and Boise State, are a combined 13-7 this season and are in the middle of a five-way tie for second place in the conference at 4-2 in Mountain West play.

A loss this weekend would set the Aggies up with a golden opportunity against a traditional conference power, Boise State. The Broncos come into the Logan in the final week of the regular season for a nationally televised game on CBS.

Utah State pulling off an upset over the very gettable Broncos would vault the program into the Pac-12 era on the back of a top-five win in the Mountain West era.

Would reaching a bowl in year one validate the program Bronco Mendenhall is building in Logan?

It would be foolhardy to suggest Mendenhall hasn’t gotten the best possible performance out of a team that eased nearly new players into the program since last season. Reaching a bowl in season one has the chance to light a fire under this program that could burn for years to come.
