SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento Police Department arrested Geoffrey Haenggi, 41, for an alleged hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian last month.

On Oct. 25, officers responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle near Florin Road and 24th Street. Officials said, despite life-saving measures from arriving officers, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

According to police, evidence at the scene indicated the pedestrian may have been hit by two different vehicles, which both left the scene before officers arrived.

An investigation from the department’s Major Collision division identified Haenggi as a suspect. Police said he was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and is facing felony hit-and-run charges, as well as numerous firearm-related charges.
