FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — In October, Firebaugh High School renamed its field after Josh Allen. On Saturday, the reigning NFL MVP had his college alma mater jersey retired.
It’s the first time the University of Wyoming has ever retired a player’s number, meaning the valley native is now forever immortalized in War Memorial Stadium.
Allen was able to return to Laramie for the halftime ceremony since the Buffalo Bills played the Houston Texans on Thursday night.
It was a packed crowd for the game against Nevada that included Josh’s wife Hailee Steinfeld, family, former teammates, and his former coach, Craig Bohl, sharing that historic moment.
Josh played two seasons at Wyoming, transferring in from Reedley College then drafted seventh overall to the Bills.
