Long Beach’s nonprofit community has once again come together to spread holiday cheer by providing free groceries and Thanksgiving meals to those in need.

The fourth annual Thanksgiving Grocery Giveaway, hosted by The SIX and more than 40 community partners, took place on Sunday, Nov. 23, at Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

The SIX is a collaborative of organizations, businesses, churches and community members that serve the Sixth Council District of Long Beach. Organizers prepared to serve more than 100 families and residents of District 6, as well as other Long Beach neighbors.

Volunteers helped distribute meals and groceries to those in need in the community. The lively event provided free Thanksgiving meals, including turkey, ham, sides, desserts and drinks to community members.

This year’s event also offered free COVID tests, clothing, hygiene backpacks, diapers and other resource information.
