WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man in West Bloomfield has been taken into custody after reportedly shooting a gun into a neighbor’s home during a mental health crisis.

It happened at about 9:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 24, at a home on Coach Lane, near the intersection of 14 Mile Road and Northwestern Highway.

According to authorities, the West Bloomfield Police Department received a 911 call from a woman who reported her husband was having a breakdown, was wearing body armor and had fired a gun into the neighbor’s home.

Doorbell footage of the shooting can be watched in the video player above.

First responders reportedly found the man behaving erratically in the yard and used a taser to subdue him when he resisted officers.

He was taken into custody.

Police said the man had walked across the street to his neighbor’s house, broke a window and fired several rounds into the house. While there were people inside the home at the time, no one was struck or injured.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Bloomfield Police Department at 248-975-8934.
