BANGKOK (TNND) — A Buddhist temple in Thailand got quite the shock when they discovered a woman brought in for cremation was still alive after they heard knocking coming from her coffin.

The Wat Rat Prakhong Tham temple shared a video on its Facebook page of a woman lying in a white coffin in the back of a truck, moving her arms and legs.

A translation of the caption read, “The cremation ceremony was to be held for Grandma, but when the coffin was opened, Grandma was still alive.”

In a second post, photos showed the grandmother being transported by an emergency rescue team to a local hospital to be assessed.

Pairat Soodthoop, the temple’s general and financial affairs manager, told The Associated Press on Monday that the 65-year-old woman’s brother drove her from the province of Phitsanulok to be cremated.

The brother added that his sister had been bedridden for about two years, and recently appeared to stop breathing and became unresponsive.

Pairat explained that while he was explaining to the brother about how to get a death certificate, they heard the knocking.
