BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Six people were placed under arrest after Bakersfield police held a DUI checkpoint on Friday night.
The department held a checkpoint between 6 p.m. and 12 a.m. on Nov. 21, in the 200 block of Union Avenue. Officers screened 1,182 vehicles during this time.
During the operation, 12 drivers were detained for further questioning, 19 were cited for driving without a license and six drivers were cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
Of 31 vehicles seized at the checkpoint, 21 of them were impounded and 10 were released to licensed drivers.
The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
