Coroner ID’s 81-year-old bicyclist struck in south Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified an 81-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in south Bakersfield.

The man was identified as Ruben Diza Agbayani, 81. He was struck by a vehicle in the area of Belle Terrace near Butler Road on Nov. 17, according to coroner officials.

Agbayani was taken to Kern Medical with major injuries to his leg, according to the California Highway Patrol. He was pronounced dead at the hospital on Nov. 22.

At the time of the crash, a white Mercedes-Benz collided with Agbayani, who was riding a three-wheel bicycle.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
