Adam Green, who was a deputy chief for the Sacramento Police Department, will bring 24 years of law enforcement experience to Folsom, the city says.
FOLSOM, Calif. — Folsom announced Monday the appointment of its next police chief.
Adam Green, who most recently served as a deputy chief for the Sacramento Police Department, will be sworn in at 3 p.m. Dec. 8 during a ceremony at the Folsom Community Center. With the Folsom Police Department, Green will lead 125 employees and 50 volunteers and oversee all the department’s services and programs.
“I am honored to serve as Folsom’s next Police Chief alongside the men and women of the Folsom Police Department, and to honor their tradition of service, community, and Folsom pride,” Green said via a city news release. “There can be no greater calling than to protect the safety of our public. Since moving to the Sacramento region, the Folsom community has been an important part of my life, and I am humbled by this opportunity.”

Green joined the Sacramento Police Department in 2001 and steadily advanced through each rank. As a police officer he was assigned to patrol, a problem-oriented policing team and the SWAT team, according to his profile on the Sacramento Police Department website, which was still up Tuesday afternoon.
He was promoted to sergeant in 2012, lieutenant in 2016, captain in 2019 and deputy chief in 2023, his profile reads. He oversaw investigations, operations, restructuring efforts and multimillion-dollar budgets, Folsom’s news release says.
“Chief Green’s extensive background and leadership style make him an outstanding fit for the Folsom Police Department,” said Bryan Whitemyer, Folsom’s city manager, in the release. “He brings exceptional operational experience, strong strategic judgment, and a clear commitment to professional and accountable policing. Chief Green has a proven ability to lead with transparency. His steady, professional approach will help build trust with the community and strengthen Folsom’s ranking as one of the safest cities in the country.”
Green grew up on California’s north coast and moved to attend Sacramento State, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, the city said. He has a master’s degree in emergency services administration from California State University, Long Beach.
Green takes over for interim Chief Randy Ulibarri, who filled the role after Chief Rick Hillman retired in June. Hillman, who served nearly 40 years in law enforcement, including 30 with the Folsom Police Department, was appointed chief in 2018.
