BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Fire Department announced that open burning of hazard reduction fuels will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, at 8 a.m.
Officials said that they are actively monitoring fuel moisture and weather conditions. KCFD stated, “If necessary for public safety, burning may be put on a temporary hold. Residents should stay alert for updates.”
All residents who plan to burn must obtain a burn permit, burn only on permissive days, and adhere to all rules and recommendations outlined in the burn permit terms and conditions.
KCFD said instructions for obtaining a permit are:
San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District:
If your burn location falls within SJVAPCD boundaries, visit Cal Fire’s Burn Permitting Application, where you can apply online. For people needing further assistance, call 1-877-HAZ BURN (1-877-429-2876).
Eastern Kern Air Pollution Control District:
If your burn location falls within EKAPCD boundaries, visit Kern County Community Connect, where you can apply for your burn permit online. For people needing further assistance, EKAPCD can be called at (661) 862-5250.
