MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Brody Robinson’s 23 points helped Oakland defeat Montana 95-87 on Tuesday night.
Robinson added eight assists and three steals for the Golden Grizzlies (3-5). Michael Houge added 19 points while shooting 7 of 12 from the field and 4 for 4 from the free-throw line while he also had three steals. Isaac Garrett had 14 points and shot 6 of 10 from the field.
“We played back-to-back nights like I wanted, and my gosh Michael Houge shouldn’t have even played tonight and he scored the first nine points of the game,” head coach Greg Kampe said. “(Houge) battled his tail off, he was special tonight. Our point guard (Robinson) was the MVP of the tournament and he deserved to be. Another eight assists, he took the game over in the second half and willed us to win and was unbelievable. We are nowhere near where we are going to be, especially defensively. But tonight, we just beat a really good team that played a really good game.”
Kenyon Aguino finished with 24 points, 16 rebounds and two steals for the Grizzlies (4-4). Tyler Thompson added 19 points and two blocks for Montana. Money Williams finished with 15 points and 15 assists.
The Grizzlies open Horizon League play next week, hosting Purdue Fort Wayne at the O’rena on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m.
