Center Theatre Group (CTG) will present the groundbreaking musical Here Lies Love at the Mark Taper Forum from February 11 through March 22, 2026, with the press opening on February 18. Featuring music and lyrics by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, and directed by CTG Artistic Director Snehal Desai, the production promises a vibrant, immersive theater experience blending disco beats, high-energy choreography, and striking visual design.
Here Lies Love tells the compelling story of Imelda Marcos, former First Lady of the Philippines, tracing her rise to power, the authoritarian rule of the Marcos regime, and the family’s exile following the People Power Revolution. While often associated with her legendary collection of shoes, the musical goes beyond biography to explore broader questions of celebrity, corruption, and responsibility.
Desai said, “Here Lies Love is a story that asks what happens when celebrity, corruption, and power collide, and how it sometimes takes an entire nation to stand up to an authoritarian-minded leader. It’s a story that, in many ways, feels all too familiar today.”

The musical’s first Broadway run in 2023 received wide acclaim. Critics have called it “the most entertaining new show” (ABC7), “an imaginative spectacle” (The Guardian), and praised its catchy, exhilarating music (New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post). The Taper production promises to bring the same 90-minute thrill ride to Los Angeles audiences.
