Cal Expo officials have said Imaginarium Sacramento will not open Wednesday night, despite a since-deleted social media announcement from light show organizers saying that it would open.

Northern California’s largest winter light show was initially scheduled to open on Nov. 21 but was delayed due to damaged electrical panels that needed replacement.

“There was a premature social media post regarding the opening of Imaginarium,” said Darla Givens, a Cal Expo spokeswoman. “At this time, the Imaginarium team is still awaiting official clearance to open. Several new electrical panels have been installed and are currently pending inspection. Once those panels are fully inspected and approved, Imaginarium will receive the green light to open. Until that process is complete, Imaginarium will remain closed.”

Givens said she was also a spokesperson for Imaginarium.

ABC10 initially reported the Imaginarium light show would welcome guests on Wednesday after the Imaginarium Sacramento Facebook post published around 8 a.m. said the festival would. That post has since been deleted.

Tickets to see the light show Wednesday night also appear available on the Imaginarium website despite the report that it will not be open then.

Organizers did not say when the light show would open for the holiday season.
