As the Vancouver Canucks prepare to take on the Anaheim Ducks in a highly anticipated Western Conference Matchup, a surprising interview before the game by Kiefer Sherwood leaves no doubt that tonight may be his final game as a Nuck.
«I try not to look at it,» Sherwood said after the morning skate ahead of Wednesday night’s game against the Anaheim Ducks. «I think we just try to focus on playing and try to stay in the present. You know, I love it here and I love this group here, and I just want to continue to take it day by day. That stuff will sort itself out. I’m just focused on trying to have a good road trip here and get a couple of wins.»
Ever since Kiefer Sherwood came over to the Vancouver Canucks after spending some time with the Nashville Predators, no one could have expected his impact, production and record setting hits could all come from signing just a two-year, $3 million contract as a free agent.
With his deal to be expiring at the end of the 2025-26 season, speculation has grown tremendously about his future with the team, especially that the two sides have yet to reach common ground on number and term.
Did Vancouver Canucks PF Kiefer Sherwood let it slip that he may be getting traded?
Before the game on Wednesday, Sherwood gave some surprising comments that indicate this may be his final appearance wearing a Canucks jersey.
Could tonight be Kiefer Sherwood’s final game for Canucks?
«I’m just grateful for the opportunity they gave me. When I signed here, I felt like it was a good opportunity to grow. Obviously, it’s a business so (trade talk is) not a surprise.»

After a breakthrough year last season that saw Sherwood destroy the NHL hits record while contributing 19 goals and 40 points, the 30-year-old from Ohio leads the Canucks this season with 12 goals in 23 games.
