MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said a Maryville man has been charged with murder in connection to a California woman’s disappearance in 2010.
According to MCSO, Linda Haynie was reported missing to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office in July 2010.
In January, SCSO’s homicide detectives uncovered new information regarding her disappearance and shifted the case into a homicide investigation. Additionally, they identified one of the people involved in her disappearance to be Jonathan Simpson.
Earlier this month, SCSO detectives, MCSO deputies and the Tenth Judicial District Attorney’s Office went to Simpson’s home in Maryville and took him into custody, charging him with murder and criminal conspiracy.
Simpson was taken to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Jail and later extradited to the Sacramento County Jail, where he remains in custody.
MCSO said it is still investigating additional suspects who were involved with Haynie’s disappearance. Anyone with information is asked to call SCSO at 916-874-5115.
