A Fullerton man suspected in a hit-and-run collision with a 12-year-old boy on an e-bike in Anaheim turned himself in to authorities Wednesday, police said.
Jonathan Diaz, 29, was booked on suspicion of felony hit and run, according to Sgt. Matt Sutter of the Anaheim Police Department.
The collision happened at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday at Topeka and North streets, Sutter said. The boy and the driver of the car ran stop signs and collided, Sutter said. The car crashed about a block away and the driver and passengers got out and ran away, Sutter said.
The boy suffered a concussion, broken leg and a “bunch of bruises and scrapes.” He has been released from a hospital and was home recuperating Wednesday, Sutter said.
The car was impounded and investigators found “evidence in the car that suggests DUI might have been a factor,” according to the sergeant.
