FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Fresno police are investigating a shooting that left an Uber driver wounded Thursday night after an altercation with a passenger.
Officers were called around 8:10 p.m. to reports of gunfire near George Avenue and Tupman Street.
When they arrived, they found the driver suffering from a graze wound to the back of the head.
According to investigators, the victim had picked up a passenger through the Uber app.
At some point, the two became involved in an altercation, prompting the driver to ask the passenger to get out of the vehicle.
Police say that once the passenger stepped out, they fired at least three rounds into the car, striking the driver once.
The victim is stable, and no suspect information has been released.
Detectives with the Fresno Police Department’s Street Violence Bureau are now leading the investigation.
They say they are following all leads, including information from Uber related to the ride request.
