An 11-year-old boy who was struck and critically injured this week by a suspected hit-and-run driver has died from his injuries, authorities reported Friday.
The collision occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of East Washington Avenue, at the intersection of Hickory Street, according to the Escondido Police Department.
The boy was first rushed to an area hospital, then later airlifted to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, where he later died, police said.
There were no immediate reports of any suspects taken into custody, but police were actively investigating to run down leads.
