An 11-year-old boy who was struck in a hit-and-run on an Escondido street earlier this week has died, police said Friday.
The collision happened about 5 p.m. Wednesday on East Washington Avenue near North Hickory Street, according to Escondido police. The department said the boy was taken to an area hospital, then flown to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. He later died.
A verified GoFundMe created to help the boy’s family states the boy was “a beloved child full of life, love, and innocence” and that his family is “shattered.”
The post identifies the child as Aiden Antonio Torres De Paz. “Aiden deserves justice,” it reads.
Police have not released further details about the collision, including whether investigators have a description of the vehicle.
