BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — This northwest Bakersfield community has been described as being quiet, but that quiet atmosphere was broken Wednesday night after an incident shocked the neighborhood.

Tallulah Falls Court holds a handful of homes, some just beginning to showcase holiday decorations and lights.

But around 9:20 p.m., neighbors heard commotion coming from one of the neighborhood homes and minutes later, a gunshot.

A man later identified as 37-year-old Manuel Robles was seen leaving the house in his truck.

Less than five minutes later, the Bakersfield Police Department received a report of a car accident at the intersection of Hageman Road and Calloway Drive.

Witnesses said the suspect ran away, but was captured a short time later by police. After investigating further, police found a woman dead inside the northwest Bakersfield home.

BPD soon concluded that the two incidents were related and charged Robles with first degree murder.

According to neighbors, two children witnessed the murder before fleeing to a nearby home on the street. A neighbor across the street captured the chilling moment Robles fled the home.

17 News received surveillance camera footage but chose not to show it on air due to its graphic details.

The footage shows Robles speeding out of the street in a white Ram truck.

As the truck leaves the frame, a child is seen walking into the middle of the driveway before collapsing on his hands and knees and screaming.

There’s no word on the circumstances that led to the shooting or any possible relationship between the victim and Robles.

Robles is due in court on Dec. 2.
