The holiday season is in full swing across Kern County, with festive events lighting up the California Living Museum (CALM), Tehachapi, and Bakersfield.

CALM Zoo is launching its annual “Holiday Lights” fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 29, as part of a 20-year master plan for expansion.

Steve Sanders from KCSOS emphasized the importance of community support, saying, “If people go to calmzoo.org, they’re going to see a master plan for our dreams we have for CALM. And every investment in a ticket for Holiday Lights, gets us one step closer to making that dream a reality.”

In Tehachapi, a new snow globe photo opportunity is drawing families to Railroad Park.

Bailey Damian shared the excitement, noting, “It’s the first time we’re doing it this year… It’s going to be open through the holidays.”

Tehachapi’s Hometown Christmas event on Saturday, Dec. 6, will feature activities from noon to 4 p.m., followed by a Christmas parade at 5:30 p.m.

Damian added, “Tehachapi truly just forms into a Hallmark movie that day.”

Meanwhile, Bakersfield’s Christmas Town at the Kern County Fairgrounds opens Friday, Nov. 28, and runs through Jan. 3, offering a large light display and various holiday festivities.
