Six months after a fatal incident in Sun Valley, authorities have arrested a Sacramento man in connection with the death of 53-year-old Thomas Donoho.
On Wednesday, October 9, Curtis Lee Williams, 44, was taken into custody by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Bureau on an arrest warrant for murder. Williams is currently awaiting extradition to Nevada to face a charge of Murder, Second Degree with the Use of a Deadly Weapon, a violation of NRS 200.030(2).
The investigation began on April 9, when Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) deputies responded to a reported medical emergency on the 300 block of Short Avenue in Sun Valley. Donoho was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
During the initial investigation, detectives discovered Donoho had injuries consistent with a physical altercation. The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office subsequently ruled Donoho’s death a homicide. WCSO Detectives determined that Williams had battered Donoho prior to his death.
Detectives, working with the WCSO Human Exploitation and Recovery Operations (HERO) Team and the Northern Nevada Drug Task Force (NNDTF), obtained an arrest warrant for Williams.
The WCSO emphasizes that this is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at (775) 328-3320 or, to remain anonymous, contact Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.
