BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 24-year-old man was arrested after a high-speed chase ended with a vehicle into an east Bakersfield canal on Sunday night.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the driver of a Nissan Sentra failed to stop when an officer attempted to pull them over at 12:28 a.m., on Nov. 30.

The attempted traffic stop occured on Steele Avenue, according to CHP.

The driver fled, crashed into a fence and ended up in a canal near Lake and Williams streets, according to officials.

The 24-year-old driver was arrested under suspicion of felony evading and driving under the influence.

The man was transported to Kern Medical for minor injuries, according to the CHP.
