The San Jose Sharks have added forward Pavol Regenda to the roster after placing defenseman Vincent Desharnais on injured reserve.

Desharnais has missed the Sharks’ past two games with an upper-body injury. Per head coach Ryan Warsofsky, the defenseman’s injury has been lingering for some time. The injury isn’t related to the puck he took off the visor in the San Jose Sharks’ 6-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche last week.
“He was effective. Really good. We missed him on the penalty kill, his length, obviously, and his size,” Warsofsky said. “He tried gutting through it there for a while now, and just got [to be] a little too much.”
Regenda, who was waived at the end of Sharks training camp, earned his first recall after a strong preseason.

“I’m playing with a pretty heavy line. I’m just going to try to match them,” Regenda said. “That’s what I expect from us. Play a simple game, physical.”
Regenda skated on the Sharks’ fourth line with Barclay Goodrow at center and Ryan Reaves on right wing. Regenda was also on the second power play unit at the morning skate.
“Just gives us some size. Had a good training camp. You know, he deserves a chance,” Warsofsky said. “He’s been playing well. Playing the heavy style that we’ve been looking for. Competitive, gets to the dirty areas, gets to the inside.”
Adam Gaudette is a game-time decision due to illness and did not participate in the morning skate. Warsofsky said the Sharks’ lineup has a few players who are considered game-time decisions, but did not reveal any other players.

Misa & Skinner join the team
San Jose Sharks forwards Michael Misa and Jeff Skinner joined the team on the ice for the first time since either player was injured.

Warsofsky told reporters last week that he hoped to get both players on the ice for practice on Tuesday. He upgraded their injury timelines to day-to-day and expects them to practice fully with the team tomorrow.
“It’s morning skate, so good to get them back integrated with the group. So we’ll take it day-by-day,” Warsofsky said.
“Builds our depth for sure, but they aren’t options for tonight.”
The Sharks are hosting the Utah Mammoth on Monday and will look to close out their season series against them with a 2-0-1 record.
