BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 38-year-old man was arrested in East Bakersfield after a standoff involving flash devices and chemical irritants early Tuesday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Kentucky Street at 2:05 a.m. after a ShotSpotter Alert, according to police. While on scene, officers were told a man was barricaded inside a house at the back end of the property.
Video showed a man, later identified as 38-year-old Uriel Bonilla shot a gun from the house.
Police said officers asked Bonilla to come out safely but he refused. Members of the SWAT team responded and assisted with verbal efforts, along with noise and flash devices. Bonilla still did not exit.
A chemical irritant was used to get Bonilla to exit.
Bonilla then exited without further incident, according to police.
He was arrested on suspicion of reckless discharge of a firearm.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 661-327-7111.
