(KRON) — Oakland is set to lose yet another bar. The Lodge on Piedmont Avenue announced over the weekend that it would be closing next month.

The wood-paneled watering hole renowned for its taxidermy deer heads will be pouring its last drink on Wednesday, Jan. 7, according to a post on its Instagram.

Like many bars and other Bay Area establishments that have closed over the past few years, The Lodge cited an inability to fully bounce back from the pandemic as among the reasons for shuttering.

“Like many small, local spots, we were hit hard by the pandemic, and our business just hasn’t bounced back to the level needed to keep things going,” the post read. “It’s not a decision we wanted to make, but it has to be.”

To help cover closing costs, The Lodge has set up a GoFundMe and will be holding an auction.

“What we want to say is thank you,” the post concluded. “Thank you for showing up, for supporting us, for bringing your families, for recommending us to friends, and for making this a place where people felt welcome.”
