BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Salvador Solorio-Ruiz announced he has been appointed to serve as mayor of Delano.

In a social media post, it said the appointment was made on Monday night. The city council re-appointed Mario Nunez as Vice Mayor. Each year, the city council of Delano appoints a Mayor.

“The message of Hope-the road map that has raised Delano up from a village, to a booming Kern County City-is what we will always aim to achieve. A City built on Unity.” Solorio-Ruiz, 29, said “Look, I have always believed and still do-Especially, with the current political climate and administration, I believe that we have more in common than what divides us. That out of many, we are one. Delano.”

He said in the post, in part:
