The Hurricanes did not allow a shot on goal in the third period of their 5-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night. It’s the eighth time in Franchise history that Carolina has held an opponent without a shot for an entire period. The Hurricanes will try to remain undefeated when they take on the Ducks in Anaheim tonight. Carolina was 1-0-1 against the Ducks last season.

Anaheim Ducks News & Notes:

The Ducks defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in their home opener on Tuesday night. There is tremendous excitement in Anaheim about the potential of the Ducks this season. The Honda Center attendance on Opening Night was 17,622, the largest in Ducks history. Anaheim was 21-18-2 at home last season.

Carolina Hurricanes

Rookie Alexander Nikishin has a three-game point streak to start his regular-season NHL career. The 24-year-old defenseman rang the post in his last game but is still looking for his first NHL goal. Nikishin has three assists through three games.

Anaheim Ducks

Chris Kreider scored late against the Penguins to give the Ducks a 4-3 victory. It was the Boxboro, Massachusetts native’s second of the game. Per NHL PR, Kreider became the second player in Ducks’ history to score four goals in his first three games with the Ducks, following Daniel Winnik, who had four goals to start his Ducks career in 2012-13.
