MESA, Ariz. (WKRC) – A woman allegedly called 911 after slitting her boyfriend’s throat on Thanksgiving, then told the operator, “Today is my Independence Day.”
Tamala Rudeseal, 52, called 911 shortly after 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, according to court documents obtained by AZFamily. She allegedly told the operator she had just slit her boyfriend’s throat and made multiple disturbing comments.
“I did just try to murder you,” she reportedly said. “Today is my Independence Day.”
Officers arrived at Rudeseal’s apartment to find the victim suffering from a deep gash that stretched from his left ear to the center of his neck, the outlet reported. The man was immediately rushed to the hospital and managed to recover enough to speak to police.
The victim told authorities that Rudeseal, who he had been dating for 11 years, often becomes depressed around the holidays and that the pair had argued earlier that day. He said that upon waking up to a sharp pain in his neck he believed he was going to die, but used a shirt to control the bleeding until authorities arrived.
Rudeseal displayed little to no remorse during questioning, even saying that she intended on killing the victim and hoped he was dead, according to court documents. She allegedly said she intended on stabbing him on the other side of the neck and in the heart.
“God, I hope he is dead,” she said. “It’d be a favor to me, his wife, and his children.”
