RENO, Nev. – Nevada (6-3) secures a win against UC San Diego (7-1), holding the Tritons to just 26.1 percent from three for a 76-70 win Tuesday night.
Corey Camper Jr. once again powered the Pack offense, scoring 15 points for his seventh double-digit performance of the season while adding three rebounds and three assists.
He was joined in double figures by Tayshawn Comer (12), Vaughn Weems (11), and Peyton White (11), with White also grabbing a team-high nine rebounds.
Defensively, Elijah Price anchored the paint with three blocks and eight boards, while Nevada’s bench continued its strong stretch, posting 29 points, led by White and Weems.
First Half:
Nevada opened the game on fire, knocking down three straight threes to jump ahead 9-4.
A Camper Jr. three-point jumper pushed the lead to 11 points at the seven-minute mark.
UC San Diego battled back to cut the margin to two late in the half, but the Pack closed strong to take a 35-27 lead into the break.
Second Half:
The Pack maintained control early, extending their lead to seven following a Comer fast-break layup for a 40-33 advantage.
The Tritons rallied to tie the game 48-48 with 10 minutes left, but Nevada responded immediately, ripping off a 9-0 run to regain momentum and ultimately close out the 76-70 victory.
Up Next:
After the Tritons, the Pack will get back on the road to face Washington State on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m.
