WASHINGTON (TNND) — Pop-star Sabrina Carpenter expressed her disgust over the White House’s decision to include one of her songs in a video it produced showing a clip montage of suspected illegal immigrants being arrested by federal agents.
In the background of the 20 second clip, Carpenter’s song “Juno,” a sexually charged song played, in the background. The lyrics “have you ever tried this one,” a reference to sex positions, played on loop as bodycam officers are seen chasing down and handcuffing individuals.
“Have you ever tried this one?” the White House wrote on X. “Bye-bye.”
On Tuesday morning, Carpenter responded to the post calling the video “evil and disgusting.”
“Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda,” Carpenter wrote.
Without missing a beat, the White House doubled down on the publication of the video.
“Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter,” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said in a statement. “We won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country. Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?”
Carpenter is just the latest Gen-Z pop-star to push back on the Trump administration’s use of an artists’ creative property to promote its agenda.
Back in November, the Department of Homeland Security used Olivia Rodrigo’s “all-american b—-” in a social media video showing federal agents arresting people.
“don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda,” Rodrigo wrote in a comment on the Instagram post, according to a screenshot captured by Deadline.
