ORANGE COUNTY, CA — One man was killed and three other people were injured Tuesday in a seven-car crash that included an Orange County Probation Department car in Huntington Beach.
The crash happened at about 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Goldenwest Street and Heil Avenue, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
The driver of a dark-colored sedan was traveling east on Heil Avenue at high speed, possibly exceeding 100 miles per hour, before clipping another vehicle at the intersection, a witness told CBS LA.
The car went airborne and ultimately landed on its roof about a half-mile from the intersection after hitting at least two other vehicles, CBS LA reported.
The driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene, HBPD spokeswoman Jessica Cuchilla said. Three other victims of the crash were taken to nearby hospitals and were expected to survive.
According to Cuchilla, two of the victims were Orange County Probation Department officers.
No further information was immediately available.
