Habitat for Humanity’s Playhouse program partners with organizations and corporations in the community who want to get their team together and give back by creating a custom child-size playhouse that can be donated to a childcare provider in the area.

“We are getting set up for a playhouse build with Groundworks. So our Playhouse program partners with organizations in the community, corporations, companies like Groundworks, people that want to get their team together and give back as a team by creating a really sweet, custom, adorable, child-sized playhouse with the Groundworks volunteers,” says Patti Wang Cross, Communications Manager, Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley.

Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley will be able to donate the playhouse to a childcare provider in the area, to make a lot of kids happy with the playhouse. But also because Groundworks is sponsoring the team building day, not only are those children going to benefit from this playhouse, but they’re also supporting the broader work, building adult-sized, family-sized affordable housing throughout the community.

George Godinez, General Manager of Groundworks San Jose shares, “Very excited to get back to our community and have a day to where we can actually back up from that and actually work on homes. Working on big houses to now taking the time to give it to somebody else. We get to pull our guys from out of the field from having to work on homes and actually build some playhouses and be able to give it to somebody. The fact that we get to do that is very exciting.”

Partnering with organizations like Groundworks gives Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley the opportunity to be out in the community, to give people a really fun, active, hands-on, creative way of working together, get them out of their comfort zones, out of their offices, doing something unusual and creative, and at the end of the day, toward a common purpose.

Groundworks specializes in foundation and waterproofing, focusing on stabilizing homes and making sure that they don’t have any future problems.
