A teenager has been charged with attempted murder in a Black Friday shooting at a San Jose mall that injured three people. Three adults have also been charged with acting as accessories after the fact for allegedly helping the suspected gunman escape, all according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office said that the 17-year-old alleged shooter, named Cayleb D. in a criminal complaint, will be charged with attempted murder and assault with a semiautomatic firearm for shooting three people at the Westfield Valley Fair mall.Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen said his office is seeking to transfer the case to adult court. Ultimately, it will be up to a juvenile court judge to decide if the case will be moved to adult court.The district attorney’s office said the suspect fired six times and struck his target, a man he perceived as a rival gang member, in the chest, as well as two young women unassociated with the other victim who were simply shopping.“This teenager turned Valley Fair Mall into a war zone,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said. “Six bullets hit three people, shut down the city’s largest mall, and sent fear through our community. We are filing the most serious charges and asking that they be heard in adult court, where the consequences reflect the recklessness and danger of fighting a senseless gang war inside a mall crowded with holiday shoppers.” The district attorney’s office said that on Nov. 28, 2025, Cayleb D. was walking with a group at around 5:35 p.m. when he pulled out a semiautomatic handgun and fired six times toward a 28-year-old man who was standing outside a clothing store. According to San Jose police, the suspect argued with the man who was shot before taking a gun from his waistband and firing.Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen said that the juvenile had an accomplice who helped him escape. She was identified as 21-year-old Allana Nevaeh Murillo and was charged with accessory after the fact to attempted murder, per a complaint filed by the district attorney’s office. Murillo was already out of custody on supervised own recognizance on a prior felony case for assault with a deadly weapon, according to a criminal court complaint.San Jose police say that she was pushing a stroller with a baby inside when she helped the alleged gunman escape.
