CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — Old Town Clovis has been a shopping staple for decades– with many new businesses opening over the years.
Shoppers walked the streets of Old Town Wednesday– stopping in the newest store: Awesome Bike Company near 5th and Pollasky.
“The atmosphere of downtown Clovis, the events and everything that goes on and what we’re about the family fun that’s the perfect ingredient for us,” Awesome Bike Company owner, Tommy Merriott said.
The full-service bike shop opened on Tuesday-selling and working on all types of bikes.
“If you want to go to the mountains and ride, go to the racetrack and race whatever road bikes, mountain bikes, cycle bikes, big wheel BMX,” Merriott explained.
Just a block away from the bike shop, a new store called Nourish is under construction at the old location of A Secret Garden.
Down the street, The Farmer and Bootlegger: a new speakeasy plans to open on December 19th in its not-so-secret location: DiCicco’s.
While new businesses continue to pop up, there are plenty of staples like Frost Oak Creek Creations.
“We were here for years and years and realized this is a neat place to have a business and this one we came available 15 years ago and the rest of his history,” Frost Oak Creek Creations owner Tom Frost said.
The store offers home, baby and garden goods.
Frost also serves on the board of The Business Organization of Old Town Clovis-noting the many changes in the area.
“In the last year we had rocket fizz go in on the corner and then next to them a little women’s boutique with yogurt is going in,” Frost said. “There’s probably one empty and that’s the old Quilters Paradise.”
Frost says his shop has no plans to leave anytime soon as he loves the local small business feel of Old Town.
