BUT IS DELAYED NOW UNTIL MID MONTH THIS MONTH. THE CITY OF SACRAMENTO CLEARED OUT A NUMBER OF HOMELESS ENCAMPMENTS ALONG SOME BUSY STREETS IN AND AROUND DOWNTOWN SACRAMENTO. THOSE ENCAMPMENTS WERE ALONG 12TH STREET AND OTHER STREETS NEAR LOAVES AND FISHES, WHICH IS THE CITY’S LARGEST SERVICE PROVIDER TO THE HOMELESS. THESE ENCAMPMENTS IN THE RIVER DISTRICT HAVE BEEN GROWING OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS, AND HAVE BEEN BLOCKING SIDEWALKS AND BIKE PATHS. WE COULD SEE POLICE OFFICERS, ALONG WITH THE CITY’S OUTREACH TEAM, THERE ON THE SCENE. ONE WOMAN TOLD US THAT SHE HAS BEEN HOMELESS FOR SIX MONTHS, AND SHE THINKS THE CITY CAN DO MORE TO HELP PEOPLE IN HER POSITION. I JUST THINK THEY NEED TO OPEN UP A BUILDING, GET ALL THE PEOPLE TOGETHER AND YOU KNOW, GIVE THEM HOUSING. WE REACHED OUT TO THE CITY A COUPLE OF TIMES TO ASK THEM ABOUT THIS
