A woman was arrested Tuesday and accused of sex trafficking a minor who was previously reported missing “at risk” from the East Coast, according to police.

Police said they received a tip that a 17-year-old girl from the East Coast, who had been reported missing “at risk”, was likely being commercially sex trafficked in South San Francisco.

Detectives went undercover and responded to an online posting which depicted the victim and advertised commercial sex services, according to officials.

Detectives were directed to a hotel on the 1300 block of Veterans Boulevard where they recovered the teenager, authorities reported.

According to police, further investigation revealed the teenager was being sex trafficked by 23-year-old Liliana Mejia of San Francisco, who was also present at the hotel.

The police department said Mejia was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking of a minor and other related pimping and pandering charges. The juvenile was then taken into protective custody and provided with services and resources, according to officials.
