Reading Cinemas at Valley Plaza Mall is enhancing the movie-going experience with the introduction of their heated reclining seats. Five auditoriums are already equipped with these new seats, and by the end of January, a total of 10 will feature the luxurious seating. “We’ve already got five of them open to the public, and we’re working on the next five,” says General Manager Jenni Sullivan.

The transformation required a significant reduction in seating capacity, with one theater going from 465 seats to 180 to accommodate the spacious recliners. “It’s a big difference just to be able to fit in these huge seats, widest in Bakersfield,” Sullivan added.

In addition to the seating upgrade, the cinema’s Titan auditorium boasts a Dolby Atmos sound system with 27.2 channels and 36 strategically placed speakers, providing an immersive audio experience. “You feel it in the chair,” says Sullivan.

The cinema is also set to screen popular series like “Stranger Things” S5 finale and “Five Nights at Freddys 2”, offering a communal viewing experience.

“It’s a monumental event here with other people,” Sullivan adds, highlighting the excitement of shared moments when it comes to going out to the movies, such as when “Captain America had Thor’s hammer” or “Toby Maguire shows up in Spider-Man.”

Reading Cinemas is also introducing new food items such as elote Cup, elote nachos, chicken & waffles, and few others, inviting guests to enjoy both the enhanced seating and culinary offerings.
