Studying is simply not the same without a drink in hand. Whether that be an energy drink to power through an all-nighter in Main Stacks or a light tea to kick off an early morning study session, this is a breakdown of what your go-to study drink says about you as a UC Berkeley student.
Red Bull
The original energy drink and a classier version of Monster, your choice of RedBull suggests the desire to lock in but also sleep a few hours that night. You’re likely a cognitive science major often found in Doe Library or Main Stacks.
Alani Nu
You’re probably a baddie in social sciences or a woman in STEM, using the cute designs on the can as your motivation to study or finish that last-minute assignment. You’re also a frequenter of Doe Library, but, in your past life, you would have been locked up at Moffitt Library.
Monster
Given your preference for a brawnier drink, you’re most likely a gym bro studying economics ripping Main Stacks all-nighters. You typically clock in to study in the late hours after your mandatory RSF workout.
Celsius
You would take Adderall to study if you could. As an alternative, you discovered the drink that pushes your brain power to the absolute max. You’re likely in the engineering or STEM departments, with Grimes Engineering Center or Berkeley Way West being your favorite study spots.
Yerba Mate
An over-caffeinated tea made from natural ingredients? Sign me up. You’re either in Rausser College or you’re spiritually in it. You will, in all likelihood, be spotted in the Environmental Design Library, somewhere near Li Ka Shing or Cafe Strada.
Latte
A classy and versatile drink. It mostly serves as a morning pick-me-up that you’ll see commonly in lecture or discussion. You regularly take advantage of the on-campus coffee shops such as Yali’s, Edmonds and Kiklo to study.
Matcha latte
Holding a double matcha from Binge Coffee House, you’re most likely performatively grinding in the Hargrove Music Library or at a cafe, possibly doing your readings and indulging in a drink that indicates your relaxed study habits.
No beverage at all
You inevitably doomscroll without a drink as a distraction. How do you even study?
Water
With your Stanley or Owala tumbler in hand, you’re done with your work every night by 9 p.m. I have to hand it to you — you’re probably the most locked in out of all of us.
