A fire forced the evacuation of a high school in Granada Hills Thursday morning.

The blaze was reported around 10 a.m. at John F. Kennedy High School, located at 11246 Gothic Ave.

Footage from the scene shows a column of black smoke rising into the sky, and Los Angeles Fire Department officials said the blaze appeared to be on the rooftop of a building that remains under construction.

That building, believed to be about 250 feet by 150 feet, is being accessed by firefighters so they can determine if “fire is confined to the roof or further involved with lower floors,” the LAFD said.

No injuries have been reported and no other buildings are threatened.

When Sky5 was over the school at about 10:40 a.m., the blaze appeared to be out, and firefighters were seen mopping up on the building’s roof.
