BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 29-year-old Arvin man died after being crushed while working to remove an oil rig in Fresno County Monday morning.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said on Monday, December 1, 2025, at around 10:45 a.m., a 911 call was made to report an injured man in a field near Mt. Whitney and Polk Avenues in Riverdale.
Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies and EMS members arrived and found a 29-year-old man, identified as Alfredo Oronia of Arvin, who died as a result of severe injuries he suffered.
FCSO said a preliminary investigation showed that the victim was working as part of a company to remove an oil rig from the property. During the process, a large piece of steel from the rig swung down and crushed the man.
