This is a list of the Bay Area’s most notable restaurant and bar openings, with new updates published once a week. Did we miss something great? Please, drop us a line.

DOWNTOWN — The Wild Fox opened in a tiny, well-designed space from the Spro Coffee Lab. While that same level of coffee excellence is on display, chef Tsubasa Onozaki dishes up Japanese fare, including salmon onigiri and breakfast sando buns. 123 Battery Street, San Francisco.

JAPANTOWN — Japantown has a new hotspot for cold soba noodles, tempura donburi, and tofu soft serve. Soba Dining Sora opened on Wednesday, December 3, from the same team behind Hinodeya Ramen. This new hotspot is located right on the main drag, sandwiched between karaoke bar Pagoda and Michelin-approved newcomer Hed 11. 1731 Buchanan Street, San Francisco.

UPPER HAIGHT — The Green Heron — an unfussy, homey bar from the team behind wine bar favorite Red Tail — has opened in the former Hobsons Choice. Old Fashioneds and martinis are available here alongside all the beer and wine the team’s well-loved for at their other businesses. As of Monday, December 1, the bar is open from noon to midnight Monday through Friday and until 1 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. 1601 Haight Street, San Francisco.

EMERYVILLE — After a fire that halted operations, Jungdon Katsu is back in business as of Wednesday, November 26. The team has moved to a new location. Head over for that same familiar crispy katsu and jaru soba. 6485 Hollis Street, Emeryville.

DANVILLE — Taverna Sorrentina debuted on Monday, December 1, from three Italian immigrants. The Mercury News reports this restaurant marks the first tableside entertainment Italian restaurant in Danville. That means cacio e pepe presented inside “a flaming wheel of pecorino cheese.” 100 Railroad Avenue, Danville.

SACRAMENTO — A farmers market mainstay since 2023 opened its first permanent location at the end of November. Catherine’s Creperie serves Parisian-style crepes, including goat and fig and salted caramel. The Sacramento Bee reports owner Catherine Bonnefoy was born in France and raised in Napa Valley. 200 Wool Street, Sacramento.
