EATERIES IN ONE. ON THIS WEEK’S FARM TO FORK FRIDAY, WE’RE AT A BRAND NEW PLACE IN WEST SACRAMENTO. IT’S CALLED LA CIUDAD MEX CITY. IT IS A TRIBUTE TO ANCIENT MEXICO, MOLDING IT WITH MODERN CUISINE. THE VISIONARY OWNER BEHIND IT. ERNESTO DELGADO, THANKS FOR HAVING US. YOU REALLY HAVE FIVE EXPERIENCES IN ONE HERE, RIGHT? YES, ABSOLUTELY. IT’S MY PASSION TO DELIVER THOSE EXPERIENCES. FROM COFFEE IN THE MORNING, BREAKFAST. PAN DULCE, SCOOP OF ICE CREAM OR A NICE MARGARITA, A NICE TEQUILA IN THE EVENING. IT’S ALL RIGHT HERE AT LA CIUDAD. OKAY, SO YOU HAVE THERE’S NOT ONLY LIKE A CAFE AND AN ICE CREAM SHOP, BUT THERE’S ALSO A FULL BAR. BUT THEN THERE’S A RESTAURANT FOR LUNCH, A RESTAURANT FOR DINNER, AND IT’S ALL BLENDED TOGETHER. SO LET’S TALK ABOUT SOME OF THE THINGS. SO THIS IS WHERE YOU GET YOUR COFFEE AND WHAT’S THIS HERE. THIS IS A SKYLIGHT WHICH IS LIKE A STREET CORN THAT YOU FIND ALL OVER MEXICO CITY. SOMETIMES YOU EAT THEM. I JUST GOT ONE. AND IT’S LIKE OUT OF A CHIP BAG THAT YOU’RE EATING IT OFF THE STREET, RIGHT? AND IS THIS A THE AMAZING POZOLE? BECAUSE IT’S AN ANCIENT, YOU KNOW, RECIPE THAT THE AZTECS DEVELOPED. SO I THOUGHT IT WAS AN AMAZING IN AN ANCIENT MOLCAJETE STYLE DISH. I LOVE THAT WITH THE HOMINY. AND TELL US ABOUT THIS DISH HERE. THIS DISH IS, YOU KNOW, IF YOU WANT TO HAVE SOME CASUAL EXPERIENCE WITH SOME BEERS AND A SNACK, YOU KNOW, AN OCTOPUS. MEXICO IS THE PLACE TO HAVE THAT ALONG WITH MAYBE, YOU KNOW, A TOSTADA CEVICHE WITH A LITTLE BIT OF OCTOPUS IN IT. IT’S AN AMAZING, REFRESHING DISH. OKAY. AND TELL US ABOUT THIS DISH HERE. SO ANOTHER STREET DISH FROM MEXICO CITY IS KNOWN AS THE HUARACHE. IT’S JUST, YOU KNOW, THE CASUAL STREET FOOD OF MEXICO. IT’S IN MEXICO CITY. IT’S ALMOST AS BIG AS THE TACO. BUT A LOT OF US DON’T KNOW ABOUT THE HUARACHE. IT LOOKS SO GOOD. IT KIND OF LOOKS LIKE THE FOOT OF A HUARACHE. EXACTLY. THAT’S THE REFERENCE. THAT’S WHERE YOU GET THE NAME. AND TELL US ABOUT THIS AND THIS DISH. YOU KNOW, IT’S A IT’S LIKE, YOU KNOW, A MODERN DISH. THAT’S, THAT’S IT’S A SHRIMP. IT’S ALMOST LIKE A, YOU KNOW, THE BAJA STYLE CALIFORNIA DISH WITH, WITH SHRIMP AND AN AMAZING WHITEFISH THAT BLENDS THE CULTURE OF A FULL SERVICE RESTAURANT WITH OCTOPUS. MEXICO CASUAL FOOD, CASUAL DINING AS WELL. YEAH. OKAY. AND THEN YOU’VE GOT ANOTHER TYPE OF SOUP OVER HERE. YEAH. YOU KNOW, THE FAMOUS TORTILLA SOUP IS REALLY DELICIOUS. AND I PRESENTED IT IN THIS ANCIENT KIND OF PRESENTATION THAT THE THE FLAVOR OF THE CHIPOTLE. YOU CAN’T GO WRONG WITH IT. IT REALLY IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS. AND REALLY, YOU’RE STEPPING INTO MEXICO CITY, INTO AN URBAN MARKET RIGHT HERE IN WEST SACRAMENTO. ABSOLUTELY. AND YOU CAN’T FORGET THE TEQUILA, THE COCKTAILS. AND FOR ALL YOU COFFEE LOVERS, I’M A CAPPUCCINO GUY AND YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO HAVE GREAT COFFEE. YOU CAN ALSO GET ICE CREAM HERE WHEN YOU’RE DONE. WE GOT ICE CREAM. EVERYTHING YOU NEED HERE.
