BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A man who inappropriately touched an underage girl was convicted in a sexual molestation case on Thursday, announced the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.

The DA said that on Dec. 4, 2025, Larry Twyman was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts on a minor under 14 years old and false imprisonment.

In the incident on March 28, 2025, Twyman inappropriately touched a minor who was a family acquaintance. She attempted to run, but Twyman grabbed her shirt and held her down while he continued the assault, said prosecutors. She escaped and later reported the incident.

This is not Twyman’s first conviction involving similar behavior. In 1981, he was sentenced to seven years in an Arizona prison for sexual conduct with a minor in Yuma County. Under Arizona law, his conviction did not qualify as a prior strike offense.

“Twyman has demonstrated a troubling pattern of sexual misconduct involving vulnerable children. While it is unfortunate that his Arizona conviction does not qualify as a strike offense, this new conviction will. In addition to a prison sentence, Twyman will be required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to ongoing monitoring,” stated DA Cynthia Zimmer.

Twyman is set to be sentenced on January 16, 2026, when he faces up to 8 years, 8 months in prison.
