A man is dead after being shot by police officers in Anaheim overnight.
Officers with the Anaheim Police Department’s Gang Unit were out patrolling on Philadelphia Street around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when they encountered a group of people.
Something happened between the group and the officers, and at least one officer opened fire. The department could not provide more details about the encounter or what exactly led up to the police shooting.

One person was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. A gun was also recovered.
After the deadly shot was fired, police say people started flooding the area, creating another commotion.
“After the shooting, there was quite a bit of chaos and a big disturbance,” said Lt. Matt Sutter. “More than a dozen subjects were detained from that house where the shooting occurred.”
According to police, an officer used less than lethal force while trying to control the crowd, leading to one person being transported to the hospital.
No officers were injured.
