A magnitude 3.3 earthquake occurred at 12:36 p.m. Sunday along the Camp Pendleton coastal line, generating brief, minor shaking in North County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake’s epicenter was 7.9 miles deep, which is common for the region, and broke not far from the Rose Canyon fault system. The little jolt came as Pendleton Marines are participating in Steel Knight 2025, a large training exercise that has been causing loud booms.
